The assignment was to focus on the research, development, and refinement of a corporate logotype and/or abstract logomark for a client.
I started by creating multiple sheets of word lists of objects, locations, professions, animals, etc. In this case, I chose a Pinball arcade tournament named Panic. My approach to this design was to utilize the letters from the name of the brand. I decided to change the "N' in Panic to a flipper from a pinball machine with two balls to create the subtle gesture of the letterform. Based upon the name "Panic" I took a different route from the traditional pinball machine to create a modern, abstract, playful feel that gave a sense of urgency and excitement.
The poster successfully presents the logotype through the use of communication and visual interest for the client. The use of simple to complex shapes and color turn your eyes back to the logotype as "panic" is read across clearly.
