Working with an assigned masthead, the goal of this project was to take that name, establish the subject matter, and conceptualize a coherent newsletter utilizing original artwork and found articles. All of the features are online sources and properly credited.
Zines and the delivery of counterculture inspire me. Discussing topics from racial ambiguity and Hollywood depictions of racism to growing up as a minority in your own home and community, all of the chosen content brings awareness to ambivalent topics of minority life. My goal was to voice the stories of those living in the ethnic counterculture of America.
"Embracing Ambiguity" is a newsletter that embodies the lives of minorities in America and brings awareness to ambivalent topics surrounding race that the majority often overlook. The content directed an edgier and zine-esque quality to appeal to a younger and proactive audience. I combined layered and distressed type with glitchy imagery to convey the depth and duality of the content discussed.
