Shot as part of an exhibition titled 'The Ancient of Days', which encompasses a series of figure studies and still life's that pay tribute to a group the early 19 century Australian painters. This group started to view their painting subjects from the unique perspective of Australia, rather than the post Victorian styles they had studied at the Royal Academy of Art in London.

I shot the entire series using local models, flora and fauna, using only simple daylight as the original painters of that time would have used. It required me to deconstruct my normal photographic approach of using complicated lighting set ups with modern flash equipment.

The entire exhibition helped retrain my perspective and approach I normally use in photography, much the same way those 19th century painters had to reinvent their techniques and style to adapt to their new environment in Australia.
