Au Naturel is a young brand that produces organic food and beverage products. The founder is committed to making quality and healthy food with “nothing but water and the fruit itself.” We were approached by the client to come up with a name for the brand and to develop logo and packaging that echo with the brand's values.
The name "Au Naturel" was chosen as it means “with no elaborate treatment, dressing, or preparation” and “naked” in French. To further convey the brand’s natural, transparent, and authentic qualities, we’d designed the logo with hand-drawn font and rounded curves that allude to the shape of the mouth and three dots in the upper left corner that represent the “seeds” of organic ingredients in their respective colors—the sun, greens, and soil.
Our packaging for Au Naturel's juice products seeks to convey the brand's natural, simple, and authentic qualities while ensuring the products can stand out visually from others. The design drew inspiration from the brand's name, which means “naked” in French, and leverages the transparent glass bottle to cut out a negative space in the shape of the fruit to reveal the juice’s color. A soft nude color was chosen for the paper wrap to echo the brand’s positioning, while a hand-drawn mini avatar conveys a sense of “freestyle” joy when one drinks the juice.
