Create a poster that expresses a personal mantra; these are words that you live by and guide your decisions on a day to day basis. Any medium is allowed, as long as it can print on a poster format.
Self-expression is an amazing thing and should't take the backstage; whatever you choose to do, you should do so with pride on the main stage. That's what this mantra is all about. Too often, people are scared of failing, and so, shy away from trying new things and expressing themselves. That being said, it was important for his poster to be just that: loud! Busy, decorative, full of movement, this poster had to break many design rules to get its point across. Music, a medium often used by those that need a voice, was used as the main solution by having the message written on a guitar case. The guitar case, for me, represents an oxymoron: it keeps the guitar safe, but by doing so, doesn't allow for self-expression. It's time to let go of the safety nets and play it loud.
The poster was praised for how immediate it was it delivering its message. The bright orange backdrop, combined with the large hand-written typography, quickly conveyed a feeling of self-expression begging to be yelled across a room. Although busy, it was also mentioned that it did a good job at balancing the message with the illustration surrounding it; the mantra is always seen as the focus of the piece.
