This cover was designed for a catalogue that showcases senior graphic design students’ projects from the graphic design program within the Department of Design at the Lebanese American University.
The concept was to let readers interact with this publication by literally discovering various typographic aspects of the cover through the use of scratch-off ink. At first glance, the title on the front reads ‘cover’ yet, as one scratches-off a silver square the title reveals itself to actually be ‘Discover’. Additionally, the front cover has hidden key words that describe the works inside the catalog. These words may also be revealed through scratch-off. The title on the spine functions similarly to the front cover. While, the back cover is a table of contents in which the page numbers can be uncovered through scratch-off as well. The majority of the table of contents consists of student names therefore; one can literally discover the talents of each graduating design student whose work is featured inside this catalog.
The result ended up being a fun cover that engages readers to do more than just read – they interact. It creates a memorable form of engagement and a tactile experience.
