The assignment was to create an event poster for the Dallas Dia de Los Muertos Festival.
Approach
I wanted to play around with the Mexican dancing ladies and their colorful dresses. After thinking of different ways to present these ladies, I decided to try out a different perspective--one from above. I ended up with skeleton ladies dancing in vibrant dresses. All of the typography I did was custom lettering.
Results
The end result was a design that illustrated the vibrant festivities of Dia de Los Muertos without being overly literal with the skulls imagery.
