Create a series of 3 bottles for a new Tequila brand called Villa One. The design should reflect a level of luxury as associated with the menswear designer John Varvatos and the entertainer Nick Jonas (the main partners and celebrities behind the Villa One brand) and would be priced on the higher end of the Tequila spectrum.
Each bottle needed to look like part of a family but have a unique character based on the flavor.
The design began with the shape of the bottle. Once that was determined, the application of the logo, graphics and necessary typography became the biggest challenge. The custom colors of the bottle glass helped distinguish each flavor of the 3 Tequilas and the graphics then needed to be determined to maximize visibility and have their own special identity. The distressed intertwining bands for the neckband were inspired by a ring that John Varvatos designed in his jewelry collection. I suggested it while he was wearing it and he loved the idea. Along with the faux metal bottle stopper, they were each reproduced in an antiqued silver, gold and copper finish to match back to the colors of the graphics.
The bottles were executed beautifully by the manufacturer and have been very well received by the client, liquor stores, bars and customers. The bottles look especially dramatic when lit from below in nightclubs and bars as the light reflects from the debossed bevel cut of the fleur de lis icon. People also very positively respond to the heavy weight faux metal neckband and bottle stopper because they are so unique and feel and look quite luxurious.
