Our goal for the Nebraska Statehood 150 Logo was to touch every state resident—visually and emotionally. We want to create a brand that speaks simply to Nebraska’s history and projects those values into the future. We want to create a brand celebrating the 150th birthday of the State of Nebraska.
Our work begins with the development of an iconic representation of our state; a logo if you will. Something real. Genuine. Believable. Nebraska is The Cornhusker State. No other state owns that. Let's celebrate being The Cornhusker State. After touring the Nebraska State Capitol, we discovered iconography was used throughout the building. Corn plays a prominent role in the building's design. We adapted one of the corn friezes found in the building and modified it, while still keeping its art deco style in tact. The illustration not only reflects corn, but it's also looks like an office building. A nod to Nebraska's innovation in technology and business.
So far, the logo has been used on everything from the overall identity system to even license plates. The logo and brand will continue to be rolled out in the coming years.
