Not many brands have 100 years of history. And of those brands, none have a limited-edition package that stood the test of time like the Quaker Tin. This well loved and familiar icon of simpler times is sought out throughout Latin America. For this project we created a special edition of our tin that celebrates the brand’s 100-year history.
In the world of marketing, design and advertising we’re often hyper focused on short term goals. Lift, boost, penetration — we are constantly on the hunt for quarterly profits. Quaker is a brand full of history. Of tradition. The Quaker Oats story isn’t about spin or hoopla. It’s baked right into the DNA of Latin American culture. And that brand image, our icon, is the tin canister. It represents a simpler time. It conjures all the scents of breakfast at abuela’s. Our challenge was to create a keepsake that celebrates Quaker Oat’s 100-year anniversary.
The design was envisioned with a love for craft. We paid tribute to a century of designers who have worked on the brand across time. No expense was spared. From the distinctive hand-drawn typography to the embossing details and finishes, each element of the design leverages artisan heritage and commemorates the crafted traditions of working people and their extended families. Pressed form metal and made with quality materials, the canister is a meaningful centerpiece that will be part of Mexican homes for generations to come.
It’s hard to measure the success of a project like this. How can you put parameters around something that’s designed to be an artifact? We put every ounce of pride, dedication, humility and respect we could muster into the design. It sold out immediately.
