Varnish Studio was tasked with creating a compelling package for Solemn Oath Brewery's special one-off collaborative beer with The Bruery. Conquest is the fourth edition in Solemn Oath's Seven Seals Series, and the first time a beer from this series was packaged. For this series, Solemn Oath seeks to partner with a brewer / brewery they admire to create an apocalyptic-themed beer.
Based upon the biblical theming of this series, we decided to dig deeper into the book of Revelation for inspiration. The Gutenberg Bible quickly became the focus, being it's history and beautiful graphic qualities. On the beer label, you will see the entire book of Revelation reproduced in it's entirety from the Gutenberg Bible. The tube itself is meant to evoke an ancient tome or scroll.
Jourdon Gullet provided the excellent visual representation of Conquest, the fourth horseman of the apocalypse for use on the label. In addition to Conquest, a mural of all 4 horsemen, to be installed in the brewery was created. The long horizontal format of the mural was so compelling, that we sought to capture it's spirit along with the bottle. The idea for a tube that was both poster print holder and beer holder seemed a great solution and provided for a truly unique package.
The release was a major success for the brewery. Pre-sales were high, the brewery held a special release-day event and the beer quickly sold out of it's limited edition 2,500 bottle release.
