Assignment: Describe project & goals: The project scope was to create a poster that is conceptually reflecting a social issue of personal choice.
Approach: creative process & solution: I approached this issue from my own experience. The viewpoint of my creative process was to narrow down visual ideas that can best communicate the bureaucratic challenge to immigrants. The poster symbolically criticizes an issue that all immigrants are familiar with, precisely for those seeking US citizenship – the overwhelming amount of paperwork. Often, only the physical hardships of border crossings are reflected on news anchors and online articles. Yet, the documentation process is another component in the path to citizenship that is made unnecessarily complicated. I employed juxtaposition of scale, symbolic imagery, and dramatic lighting to execute my visual message.
Results: Project success and client reaction The result is a thought-provoking and emotionally charged composition. The piece successfully communicates the issue to the viewer through easy-to-understand mental associations.
