Terre et Sang is a new, family-owned winery on the central coast of California, and Tatum Design was engaged to develop a brand that would have the potential to become a phenomenon in the wine world. The brand needed to help the winemakers stand out in the super saturated market of high end wines.
Our designs were inspired by the meaning of their French name — Terre et Sang translates as earth and blood. The logo symbol honors the spiritual connection between the land and the people who farm it – a budding vine is nurtured by hand — and the outline of a crest encircles the illustration for a storied and mysterious vibe. Hand-drawn logotype complements the symbol in some applications to create a weathered and worn look that resembles letters stamped on an aged wine barrel. Custom labels, dripped wax and branded corks are the distinguishing features of dark and romantic wine bottle designs. Cream tissue paper, accentuated with a rich soil texture, is wrapped around the bottles for a natural and flawless finish. Specially designed member boxes are sumptuous with beautiful packaging on the inside and outside. Wooden, hand crafted menu boards make a substantial first impression at the winery, and simple, rustic signage guides visitors to the beloved vineyards where the winemakers spend most of their time. Through poetic language and visuals, a branded brochure transports audiences to the heart of the operation — the fields where the grapes are grown and the wine is made. The Terre et Sang Brand is as delicious looking as their wine tastes.
