The assignment was to create a packaging system for Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal that stood out from the competitors.
Approach
The way I approached this, is by taking the individual bottles and pushing the visual of the village they were named after. In a way to personify the mezcal packaging, I took inspiration from the individual palenqueros (mezcal distiller) and their families to create a guardian of the villages. The illustration style was influenced by modern Mexican artists and designers.
Results
Overall, there was a positive response to the new system. The new packaging stood out, in a good way, from the competition.
