This image was part of a new Stetson Cologne campaign, photographing a cowboy on the Front Range of Colorado.
Approach
I scouted and arranged for a sunrise shot to photograph the cowboy at dawn as he walked across the ranch fields, and knelt down. Working with heavy backlight and strobe fill light, I aimed for a photo that was dramatic but didn’t feel strobed.
Results
This shot is one of my favorites for the mix of emotion and dramatic light.
