MedMate is a tracker app designed to fully track and manage users’ medications. With visual cues and high customization, the app takes over the burden of tracking medication and allows the user to simply press buttons.

In March of 2020, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. As a result, she was bombarded with a plethora of medications, all with different doses, frequencies, refills, colors, shapes, warnings, and more. This app was inspired by people like her. Dealing with medical struggles is enough-- no one needs to be confused by their medication. Especially if that medication is keeping them alive.

I knew that customization would be an integral part of this application. I spent many hours researching the different forms medication can have. As part of my research for the pill category, I examined all the colors and shapes of pills that are available; when a notification pops up on screen, it is immediately recognizable in the real world.

The dosages were also important for each medication. Medications can be taken daily, hours apart, years apart, and even as needed. Creating a system for setting the frequency in the simplest way possible was a challenge in itself. Dosage and number of refills were also included. Moreover, the user can see how much medication is left for each medication. The core idea is, once the medication is in the system, the user doesn’t need to give it another thought.

A multi-screen app was fully prototyped for mobile devices, with additional screens developed for smartwatches.
