Aleluia is a publication design for a Portuguese cookbook. Portugal is a country that is rich in culture and history. Overall, Portuguese food is a combination of several genres from tasteful Italian pastas to Asian inspired seafood. As a country that is so deep in cultural influence, a cookbook is a small part of traditions found in the country.

The approach to this publication design was to create a structured grid for each recipe to follow that could be manipulated to fit any recipe of any length. This would create consistency for the reader to find every detail they need. The combination of type styles help accomplish this goal and by adding small icons and rules the reader is able to follow the recipe with ease. The size of the book is also important as a square book is more likely to stay open on a counter than a tradition vertical page book. The decision to add a special feature section came from a need to explain some of Portugal's history along with the recipes. This helps the readers learn more about the stories behind the meals and how they are important to Portuguese culture.

The project succeeded in creating a connection to readers who are not of Portuguese heritage and those who are. The careful and thoughtful decisions all add important details to the book that make the recipes easy to follow and understand.
