For my advertising portfolio class, I was tasked with creating an ad for Dixon Ticonderoga Pencils. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to emphasize that every great story started as an idea written down with a pencil.

In order to make it seem like the Dixon Ticonderoga Pencil was inextricably linked with some of the great stories of our time, I began thinking of ways to actually integrate the Pencil into the story. I decided to go with a minimalistic execution, combining the Dixon Ticonderoga Pencil with a legendary movie prop that is familiar to almost anyone.

I'd like to think that this advertisement was very successful. I believe it effectively got my point across and was also entertaining for the viewer, as many of my peers had that wonderful "aha!" moment after they had both looked at the visual and read the copy.
