American History Unbound needed a trademark for Carnegie Hall’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. The unique multimedia performances brought to life the drama, tragedy, and amazing moments of America’s race to space with a 30-piece orchestra, Broadway singers, and stunning photography and film from NASA.

The trademark for ‘We Chose to Go to the Moon’ needed to reference the iconic moon landing and Carnegie Hall. The solution brought together a photo isolation of Buzz Aldrin saluting the U.S. Flag and a repeating thick red bar from the Carnegie Hall trademark, which formed the red stripes of the American Flag.

The ‘We Chose to Go to the Moon’ trademark was the backdrop for the event, introduced by Katie Couric and hosted by creator John Monsky, with performances by Mark and Kali Armstrong, Neil Armstrong’s son and granddaughter.
