Rooted is a prototyped volunteering companion for anyone interested in helping their community’s environment. Our app provides encouragement and information by letting users track their individual impact, and offers localized resources to facilitate the volunteering process. With our app, we hope to make environmental volunteering easier and more accessible.

With our app, we want our users to feel welcomed and encouraged to start on this new path to a community of environmental activism, and let them set the pace of their own volunteer work. The app allows them a fast and easy way of filtering through events so that they can find the perfect volunteer opportunities to fit their (likely) busy schedules and personal specifications. Additionally, we wanted to present a view of our app as open, airy, inviting, environmentally-conscious, bright, and earthy, and we achieved these things through our use of natural colors and clean, readable typography.

Our app received good feedback from our peers. They found it easy to navigate and aesthetically pleasing, as well as thematically appropriate. Some of them expressed an interest in using it, or something like it, and found our solutions to be very successful.
