Branko Kincl is an architect, urbanist and educator — one of the greatest contemporary Croatian authors in this field, with career spanning over five decades. Containing six texts by five highly respected authors, the monograph provides an extensive overview of his most notable projects, ranging from urbanistic systems, residential building complexes and sport architecture to large-scale industrial architecture and monumental airport projects.
Along with highly contrasting and meticulous treatment of typography, the cover and cut-out opening parts of each section contain optical illusion details, as a nod to the author’s practice of using graphical elements in design of industrial facades and surfaces, inspired by the influences of EXAT51 & New Tendencies modernist movements of 1950s. An intriguing front cover carries no information on the content whatsoever. The massive spine emphasises the title and stands proudly on the bookshelf.
We created a volume that presents and comprises five decades long career of a renowned, celebrated and multiple award-winning Croatian architect and urbanist, using material from his archive as well as photography from different sources that complement the texts by five eminent authors. The book is primarily intended for architects, but also to a wider audience interested in architecture. By its physical dimensions plus unusual cover appearance and treatments of visual material it stands out in specialized bookshops.
