This assignment required me to fuse one primary concept, grizzly, with five other unrelated concepts—janitor, baby clothes, ballet, recording, and crochet. The primary goal of the assignment was to translate these conflated concepts into a simplified style that utilized icon design/techniques. Subsequent the icon design, a poster composition was necessary to showcase the icons in a strategic way that helped elevate their design elements.

The solution was to establish a connection through shapes, color, and an overarching theme that centered around the grizzly concept. Half circles and dots were used similarly throughout the design, while also implementing a strategic division of color that took from my initial style references. The poster design solution was created through form fitting the icons and their poster design counterparts, implementing a more balanced use of cool and warm colors, and simplifying the text—resulting in a whimsical poster that highlighted the overall design style and theme of the icons: Grizzly Things.

The poster was successful, having been well received by both professor and peers. The poster received high grade and good feedback.
