Freshwater Fish of North America is a self-initiated infographic/branding project with the goal of reinterpreting traditional fishing charts in a contemporary way which elevates the once purely utilitarian chart to an interim between design and fine art.

Laying varying aesthetics side-by-side allows the poster and brand material to fulfill their design intention while also asking questions about the nature of images, their age and place in time. High-contrast halftone photos are laid beside 8-bit pixel animations, crisp vector graphics on top of weathered imagery. In lieu of captions, photographic metaphors are often employed to further the infographic's sense of exploration and play.

Freshwater Fish of North America represents a successful representation of information, but also the foundation for further experiments in contrasting aesthetics. Photographic imagery has been successfully merged with, and been replaced by, various forms of graphical representation. Thus, their roles in the realm of design have been effectively questioned.
