Design a chair so you can sit in it, while the secondary function is to embody a set of aesthetics or values or to communicate a message or opinion.

I took a personal story about my first-hand experience with bullying and the art movement neo-modernism and analyzed the two by writing essays. After synthesizing the art movement, the Y axis, and my personal story, the x-axis, I used the Linkage of Logos method to create my XY axis statement. Which helped establish my zone of conflict, which became the primary focus for my chair. I wanted to focus on stepping out of one's comfort zones and growth. Once I found a sketch that best reflected these two concepts, I began researching materials and chair measurements.

I designed the "Lisa," for anyone who has ever felt like they didn't belong. The chair, constructed from teak wood, concentrates on wood properties of growth and leadership. Although the organic shape cocoons you, it also stays open to your surroundings, while the bottom of the chair starts small but continues to grow towards the back of the chair. It's a reminder that growth starts from within and that you are never alone.
