Pollution and climate changed are linked not only in their impact on our planet but in the seemingly endless ways they can be denied and managed or funneled into committees for study or documents that are non-binding and effectively useless. We should wait no longer for agreements or laws, action needs to happen and individuals should lead the way.

Finding images of pollution was not difficult, especially in parts of China, and this image was from Shanghai specifically. My approach was to flip the image so to the casual observer the orientation could easily be mistaken. Additionally a small amount of type was added in to a building with a tagline, and the main title was blurred and sharpened at different points to simulate the eye strain and visual uncertainty of seeing clearly in thick smog/pollution.

I have had positive feedback from peers and clients who have seen this. Ultimately, the environmental impact of printing this will be weighed against the impact and clarity of a full sized print, but currently the distribution is strictly digital.
