In the early days of the pandemic, Studio Usher gave ourselves the assignment to stay connected to our clients.
The world had turned upside down in just a few days. Curfews. Shutdowns. Dread. A mobile morgue was parked on our block. Everyone was glued to their phones 24/7. Health experts advised us to stay home to flatten the curve, so we bought canned goods with a long shelf life. It was these empty cans that became our story and we delivered it where our clients were, on social media other phones.
It turns out we were looking for connection as much as our clients and the conversations that resulted from this series were very meaningful. Ultimately, the series has morphed into a photography exhibition which will coincide with the one-year anniversary of Governor Cuomo’s executive order that shut down non-essential businesses in New York in March 2020. This poster is also the invitation to that exhibition.
