The assignment was to photograph fibers artist Laerke Lillelund Michealsen’s work in such a way that the qualities of the handmade materials and garment are accurately represented in a dynamic, engaging context.
Approach
I made the space in the frame clean and simple so as to not distract from the piece while also keeping the viewer intrigued. I selected colored gels and foam core walls with a serpentine shape to give movement.
Results
The client was very surprised the image could be so expressive without detracting from the artist's work.
