The global zeitgeist took a hard turn in 2017, unleashing forces with the potential to upend global power dynamics. Seeking the comfort of a solid footing, leaders and everyday citizens both seemed eager to revisit first principles on a range of social, economic and political issues—including privacy, immigration, climate change, trade and the structure and purpose of international alliances. The theme for White & Case’s 2017 roundup, “Strategies for the New World,” expresses the Firm’s abiding faith that the unsettling challenges posed by current events can successfully be overcome through wise strategy and diligent effort. The 2017 Annual Review signals that White & Case brings sound judgment and commercial acuity to confronting the perils in the current climate.
The 2017 Annual Review is an important tool for enhancing the White & Case brand while offering relevant thought leadership content to clients, potential clients and White & Case staff. It features insights from lawyers about important issues affecting businesses around the world, an overview of Firm strategy, descriptions of significant accomplishments for clients and major Firm events and milestones.

Vibrant, saturated photography featuring powerful organic elements sets an optimistic tone while suggesting a natural world—and business world, and political world—in flux. Surprising splashes of color engage the reader when photography is incorporated into letterforms and punctuation in a contemporary way. A square grid enhances the clean typographic layouts and underscores the strategy theme in the black & white section breaks.
A digital, responsive version of 2017 Annual Review was designed for whitecase.com, which significantly extends the publication’s reach.
