This assignments goal was to focus on the research, development, and refinement of a conceptual “pictorial” logo design. It was important our designs utilized non-verbal conceptual strategies. To create new meaning, we were asked to combine two objects. After the initial design of our logo, we were required to come up with a name that connected with our design.

I started my process by creating an extensive wordlist. I took a long time looking at different reference photos to see how certain objects related in the way of negative space, shape, or texture. This then led to 36 thumbnail sketches, to 4 finalized roughs, and then 3 finals. My most clever being my design for Blue Christmas.

The project was well received, and it was stated that it delivered the concept successful in a clever way. The play with negative space to create highlights was said to be visually appealing.
