The Lincoln Marathon is a long-standing tradition in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska. As with every poster created to promote the race, the concept must tie into the city’s namesake, Abraham Lincoln.
The 2021 Lincoln Marathon poster affixes the ubiquitous 26.2 sticker onto an 1800's carriage—similar to what the President might’ve ridden in—continuing the poster’s tradition of transforming recognizable marathon symbols into Lincoln-era artifacts.
Runners loved the design, which appeared in athletic stores and community windows leading up to the race. Both in-person and virtual participants were able to take part in the 44th annual run on May 2.
