The goal of this rebrand project was to create an iconic visual language that reflected the values of the Phoenix Suns, while maintaining approachable feel for their fan base.
I wanted to give the Suns a contemporary look that makes sense for 2019, without alienating the fanbase with something that felt too far a jump from the current brand. I studied the Suns brand evolution through the years, and carried over several of the core brand elements into the redesign.
Through drawing a brand new wordmark and simplifying the pictorial mark to its simplest form, the Suns now have a brand that feels more uniquely theirs, more iconic. This project has started many conversations for me with strangers about the wide open potential in the world of sports design.
