The goal of this project was to take the original movie poster for Disney's Lilo & Stitch movie and rebrand it to make it more interesting and intriguing by adding more characters and information about the movie into the poster. By doing so this will allow people who are interested in viewing the movie to understand more of what will be happening in the movie rather than giving them a small glimpse which could be misleading.
I looked at many resources from the original poster for the movie, for the poster and DVD art of the movie, from internet and fan art, and from movie stills. I compiled them together to create a composition that I felt reflected the movie better than the original poster. My main influence was the artist Tom Whalen and his poster for the movie. I used his streamlined style but updated it so that it was not retro, and that it was much more bright, intriguing, and inviting for the viewer. The Walt Disney Records PNG was obtained from the internet as this is not intended to be sold or to make money off of, it is free for personal use. It was used to create a more realistic feel to the poster only.
Since I am a student, my class enjoyed the poster as well as my teacher. They all enjoyed the style and colorization. They felt it looked very clean and was a good poster that could be used for the movie as an updated version that was more relatable to kids and adults of today.
