The Grand Hôtel Stockholm is the only 5 star hotel in Scandinavia, offering guests a luxurious experience since 1874. Among several restaurants the hotel also offers a bar – The Cadier Bar – for anyone in the mood for a glass of red wine, a bottle of Bollinger or a glass of perfectly stirred Martini.
The Cadier Bar needed help with designing and creating a format for what became, the Cadier Bar Mix Max menu. Grand Hôtel had just hired one of the most creative bartenders in the world, Emil Åreng, and he was set the task to create an exciting offering that would attract a younger clientele and put the Cadier Bar on the map of the world’s best bars.
The Bar Manager Emil Åreng is a wildly creative bartender with a vision. That vision was to base the menu on the table top game – Mix Max. In the game players mix parts (hat, head, torso and legs) of various characters like firemen, cowboys, clowns etc. and create new and fun characters. The menu would be based on the same principle, but the characters would all be the founder of Grand Hôtel Regis Cadier in different situations throughout his life. Every situation was illustrated with a character and four new drinks created based on the theme of the month. The different body parts signaled different styles of drink. The hat part was the heaviest drinks, down to the legs that are non-alcoholic.
The result is a menu in a leather clad binder with 12 character illustrations with a total of 48 exclusive drinks. A playful format that strongly communicates the vision of the Cadier Bar. The menu with the new offering became a great success and led to exponentially increased sales, increased social media presence and the Cadier Bar being chosen the best bar in Sweden 2019.
