Redesign the magazine portfolio book, crazy sexy cool, with the sensibility and understanding of wood type.
Approach
This portfolio captures popular celebrities in a provocative, playful, and introspective photographs in the 1990's. I redesigned the collection as wood block negatives. In other words, how you would view wood blocks of type from the down up.
Results
This results in a stark contrast of the very human qualities of their facial expressions and gestures to the hard edges of the wood blocks. What results is a dynamic pairing of image and type that bring out the beauty in the other.
