Create the key image for promoting Court Theatre's production of "Satchmo".
_______About My Approach:My promotional theater photography is based in portraiture. I've been a performer most of my life-- so as a photographer I like to create unexpected moments through play and experimentation.
_______About my approach with this shoot:The show is a piece for one actor about Louis Armstrong's last performance at The Waldorf Hotel. The play deals with the challenges Mr. Armstrong faced-- performing at venues as a headliner, while at the same time not being allowed to eat as a guest because of his race-- so I wanted to show a more contemplative moment-- where we see Louis Armstrong in a place where he quietly grapples with his own fame-- and social inequity.
This was used as the main image for the show-- on all postcards, posters, programs, mailings, press, and OOH. Traci, the Chief Marketing Officer for Court Theatre was happy with the key image-- and we're now working together on our 8th season, creating key art.
