Goal of the project was to photograph a portrait inside of a studio space.
Approach
In my explorations I found that I was most drawn towards gritty, natural black and white photos. I wanted to create a photo that felt natural and also would capture the model in a way you wouldn't normally see her. She has beautiful hair and freckles, and I wanted a composition that would allow both to stand out.
Results
The end result is a closely cropped portrait only displaying of portion of the model's face. Her hair is framing her face, almost like she's coming out of it. Making the photo black and white allowed her natural features to stand out and create a very honest or open portrait. Having the model not directly facing the camera and looking to the side adds to the organic nature of the photo.
