The goals of this project was to convey the vibrancy and richness of the cultures within Latin America. La Calavera strives to provide pieces of jewelry that inspire the wearer to embrace other cultures and share their beauty with the world.
During the process of this project I wanted the packaging to reflect certain elements of Mexican culture. The patterns are inspired by the folk art alebrije and the skulls are inspired by sugar skulls that are popular around dia de los muertos.
The colors used are often seen in local crafts and folk art and reflect the rich history of the country. The company proudly works with local artisans and helps them reach markets that might have been previously inaccessible.
