Challenge: The challenge was to create a visually engaging save-the-date and invitation package for Monroe Community College Foundation’s 20th Gold Star Gala fundraising event.
Execution The agency branded the event in a space theme and created a save-the-date that had the event details in a star map foldout format. The piece was printed in silver metallic ink and three other spot colors. The invite was placed into a black folder with silver foil stamping and included an airspace permit, an intergalactic currency converter, sponsorship opportunities and reply information. The folder was then placed into a silver foil bag and was vacuum sealed and mailed out to prospective guests.
The save-the-date and invitation became a harmonious blend of copy and design, immersing prospective attendees in a parallel universe where they may encounter alternative atmospheres, species, monetary systems, strange beings and attractions. The piece was mailed out to 300 possible attendees, sponsors and donors.
The invitation was mailed out to 296 people and the event attendence was a sell out crowd of over 300 attendees from around the Rochester area. Proving a 101% response rate to the mailing.
As a result of the event 50 scholarships were pledged to students with 22 of them being over $2,000 each. The total money raised is upwards of $90,000 going directly to student scholarships, books and supplies for students. The total money raised for the event was $236,000 going toward the advancement of the college.
