Fshnunlimited magazine was created as a vehicle to discover, explore, and exhibit influential Canadian talent. At its core, the magazine aims to provide a stage for talented local artists to gain exposure and reverence in an industry that is difficult to shine in. Ultimately, Fshnunlimited aspires to deliver a renewed Canadian voice to the international arena, spearheaded by a collective of fashion photographers, artists, and writers.
Fshnunlimited was founded by me, Paul Sych. As the Creative Director of the magazine, I solicited and assembled talent that helped mold the voice of the magazine and mirrored what I envisioned it to become. Fshnunlimited embodies a unique visual language. The pacing of the magazine is both rhythmic and esoteric, drawing upon striking graphical cues to animate the intention of the written pieces, contemporary art, and editorial features. This visceral voice is personified in the typography, layout, and cover designs of each issue; created intuitively as a response to the work featured. They reflect the nature of the magazine and its reverence of art.
Fshnunlimited is the antithesis to the traditional, mainstream fashion publication. We celebrate the culture of creation through incredible people and remarkable work – providing a voice for the identity, intelligence, and design behind fashion and art. That being said, our magazine is intended to reach the individual looking beyond the mundane, regurgitated content that magazine culture is so often subjected to – someone who would like to experience Canadian fashion on a refreshing level. The reaction to Fshnunlimited has been supportive, positive, and encouraging – lauding the magazine’s mandate of combining fashion and art under a Canadian lens that is rarely praised. People seem genuinely engaged by the magazine’s unique content and brash visuals. Many have said to me that “it is about time” something like this has come along in our industry.
