This assignment focused on the research, development, and refinement of conceptual “pictorial” logo designs. Through text and video, pictorial logo design was studied and absorbed. From there, numerous pictorial logo examples were studied and discussed. Then, through creative brief, the assignment process began. Through, research, wordlists, thumbnails and roughs, final presentation pieces were developed.
The creative process began with research and extensive word lists. These processes are used in order to discover unique, innovative solutions within the graphic design process. Next, thumbnails were created to give the wordlist combinations a visual structure. From there, rough drafts were created that further refined the best thumbnail concepts. Finally, the strongest rough drafts were further refined into final conceptual pieces. During the finals stage, color and typography relevant to each individual final concept was added and refined.
"The final presentation refined the rough into a final logo design incorporating color and typography.
This final logo incorporates a company name that is in keeping with the concept. A color palette (no more than three colors) and type were chosen based upon the physical properties of the chosen concept and through study of the professional field of the chosen company name.
