Newly established MEIS (Museum of Italian Judaism and the Shoah) contacted Teikna Design to create a new brand identity that reflected and enhanced the museum's mandate and vision. The first of its kind in Italy, MEIS aims to be a centre for cultural exchange and open dialogue between Jewish and other religious as well as non religious groups. Exhibitions range from ancient history to contemporary art, activities involve school labs and workshops.
We focussed on some key aspects of Jewish culture and history, such as the ability to change and adapt to different environments; the inclusive nature of Jewish culture and its contribution to human history, its eclecticism. The modular, geometrical shapes which we adopted to write the name of the museum work as building blocks and can form a modular pattern as well as act as container for the imagery .
The Museum has received strong media attention since opening in december 2017. The identity and its sharp, modern visual identity has played an important role in positioning it as a new and strong player in the competitive, crowded museum scene of Italy.
