The direction was to illustrate the end of the world within the universe of the show. The art was meant to feel very epic but avoid typical apocalyptic representations.
We explored a variety of ways to represent the end of the world but felt most inspired by the depictions of the descent into hell as depicted in classical art.
The final poster conveyed that everyone in the world of The Strain was going to be sucked into a vortex of hell. The color palette aligned with the series’ overall campaign while the art felt beautiful and otherworldly despite the dark subject matter.
