Upon choosing the rap genre as my magazine focus, I then began brainstorming content and storylines that would be featured, as I then focused on Kendrick Lamar and how he speaks for the Black Lives Matter movement very well. I wanted to express his loud and vocal attitude on social justice issues through the use of powerful black and white images, as well as incorporate the idea of music with abstract music lines. When it came to the branding of sway, I imagined a matte cover that would expressively represent the stories for that month. I also worked to create a logo form for the brand "Sway" itself that was contemporary yet had a style of avant garde.
