This hand-cut paper illustration pays homage to the traditional Chinese cut papper. Captivated by the stark white faces highlighted by the rich reds surrounding the eyes and lips of the performers was my motivation for the image. Continuing with this esthetic, I felt it was essential to handle the typography similarly. In this case, I chose to use traditional Chinese rice paper to enhance the narrative.
