In my process, I knew a renaming would need to take place, after exploring multiple options I decided on the name "Eether" but spelled "Eethr." I wanted Eethr as a brand to personify its eco-friendly values and be deeply grounded in environmental issues and seeks to revolutionize luxury experiences while prioritizing sustainable practices. Named after the personification of the highest, cleanest air, Eethr is an entirely carbon neutral experience.
As I began to develop the forms, in my research I found lots of images of the crystal structure of ice and micro organisms found in the waters off Antarctica. All of these forms referenced hexagons, so I carried that forward in my development.
In developing a line of luxury toiletries, I focused on sustainability and using technology and materials that are accessible and durable. I also set strict rules for myself in minimizing the amount of manufacturers needed by limiting the variety of materials necessary to create these products. I created products specific to the needs of someone in Antarctica’s harsh climate and I took the opportunity to eliminate the need for secondary packaging. By using aluminum and eliminating liquids when possible, this reduces the amount of fuel and materials needed to package and transport these products. For the shampoo and conditioner bars, I utilized water soluble paper and algae ink to eliminate a source of paper waste and micro plastics. When transporting, all products will be packed in Green Cell Foam, which is dissolvable.
I also developed a signature fragrance for Eethr, the ELMNTL. The exterior cage is made from 3D printed Titanium while the inside is glass. This outer structure allows for the form to be durable while minimizing the amount of packaging and creating a unique sensory experience for Eethr visitors.
I created my models in Solidworks and Rhino, renderings were done in Solidworks, and appearance models were 3D printed in powder and SLA resin, and hand finished by myself. Labels were applied with dry transfer and I did my own photography and styling.
