Utilizing research and analysis, students will develop a nonlinear timeline representing a specific period in time. The final outcome will be the creation of a graphic communication in both a visual and digital format. Research will be required to define and articulate a specific topic and information to be visually communicated. An exploration of imagery, semiotics, symbolism, typography, and statistical information will be explored in consideration of a targeted audience.

The poster reflects the history of jazz music, juxtaposed with societal, cultural, and artistic advancements. Major events in the jazz world are paired with actual societal events, rendering the poster an infographic. In order to capture the debauchery, energy, and richness of the era, complementary colors of orange and blue as well as a watercolor effect were utlized. This reflected the newfound freedom and independent attitude of society in the 1920s.
