Homecoming is a gripping and unnerving half-hour psychological thriller from Director and Executive Producer Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot). The 10-episode series stars Golden Globe and Academy Award-Winner Julia Roberts in her first starring television role. Based on Gimlet Media’s fictional podcast of the same name, Homecoming centers on Heidi Bergman (Roberts), a caseworker at a secret government facility for veterans, Colin Belfast (Bobby Cannavale), her ambitious supervisor, and Walter Cruz (Stephan James), a patient and soldier eager to rejoin civilian life. When we first meet these characters, Heidi’s treatment of her patient appears to be therapeutic, however as time in the program progresses, it’s soon revealed that things are not quite as they seem at the Homecoming facility. The key art was to tap into the uncomfortable emotions brought up throughout the show, and to provoke an emotional, visceral reaction. Keeping Julia Roberts the main focus, the art was to look beautiful, while feeling somewhat off.
