This book cover was designed for the journal, American Craft Inquiry, published and distributed by American Craft Council, a primary national organization. American Craft Inquiry is committed to presenting research, in the broadest sense, in order to cultivate discussion and advocate for craft as an essential economic, educational, and cultural resource.

The design concept for ACI envisions the journal as a space to engage with inquiry, critical thinking, and writings. In this design approach, the journal becomes a powerful object whose purpose is to lead readers to actions and reactions. The ACI logo explores metaphoric modules: the six purple circles represent the five primary materials in the craft field and one undiscovered material to be discovered in the future.

The cover design includes specific visual elements: the information of the publication, the symbol mark of American Craft Inquiry. It uses various types, colors, scales, and patterns: the letterforms are translated into abstracted patterns to represent the creative explorations of art-making.
