Ledo and Frikom, the largest ice-cream and frozen food producers in South-East Europe, made their first functional ice-cream, lower in calories and sugar, but higher in protein. Our task was to design unique, appealing and state-of-the-art packaging for the first four ice-cream flavors in 460ml tubs.
The design inspired by newspaper covers conveys the product originality and exclusivity. The typography of the brand name and the product logo is reminiscent of large sensationalist headlines. The combination of the newspaper logo on the front and of prominent benefits split into columns make this packaging unique and appealing. The product assortment includes four different flavors communicated by color-coded packaging and cartoon illustrations. The colors and the motives were chosen to stir the imagination and whet their appetite. The softly hued packaging evokes natural ice-cream ingredients with beneficial health effects.
We pulled away from common solutions used by mainstream ice-cream producers such as ingredients photos and intensive colors. It resulted in better product differentiation and contributed to great sales results.
