The New News is a daily, 15-minute broadcast for 8-to-12-year-olds that discusses the day’s most important (inter)national and local events, mixed with lighter yet informative news and tidbits. It will help kids make sense of the world, so that they grow up to be well-informed, engaged and critical citizens.
New News is not another kids show with news. It’s a news show for kids. How might we find a way to translate the heavy-text based news message into some delightful and simple design languages, so that it is not too complicated for kids under 12 to understand and stay interested?The design is also inspired by an illustrative, playful, and interactive approach for kids to relate to. With stickers being a key element of the brand, kids will have a more engaging experience on the platform.
The branding for New News helped the project to be approved by the board, and will soon publish a daily, 15-minute broadcast, as well as news articles, on its own website and app, accessible via subscription. Segments of the show will be made available on the most popular social media, like YouTube and Instagram, where kids can watch them for free.
